Chester Timmons
Services for Chester Daniel Timmons, 86, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Richard Bailey will officiate. Burial will follow at Pontotoc Cemetery.
Chester Timmons passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home in Ada. He was born February 7, 1930, near Connerville, Oklahoma, to William Arthur and Oma Leona (Shasteen) Timmons. He married Erra Lorene Skiles on August 6, 1950 in Bromide, OK.
Thoughout the mid-1950's and 1960's, Chester managed the WilMar Farm south of Ada, the H. D. Hall Ranch and the Rollows Ranch in the Ada area. He worked at Solo Cup Company briefly and continued to ranch, work as an independent welder and hay bailer and served as a Pontotoc County District 1 employee for 12 years prior to running for the district's commissioner seat. From 1987 until 1991, he served as Pontotoc County's District 1 Commissioner during which time he served on the Big Five Community Services board, and worked closely with local and state government leaders on community projects that included the building of the Pontotoc County Agri-Plex and improvement of the county's roads and bridges.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hollis, Francis and Dellis Timmons; sisters, Charlsie Lewis, Ola Mae Sutterfield and Sylvina Johnson Stephenson.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Erra; a son, Steve Timmons and wife Lisa, Ada; daughters, Anita Shirley, Oklahoma City, Karen Trivitt and husband Curtis, Lake Dallas, TX, and Jennifer Boeck and husband Jonathan, Ada; his grandchildren, James Shirley and wife Gabbie, Chesapeake, VA, Lori Taylor, Edmond, Angela Hawpe, Moore, Holly Deitrick and husband Sean, Flower Mound, TX, Candace Timmons, Norman, Cortney Cowley and husband Jeremy, Omaha, NE, Caleb Timmons and wife Lauren, Tuttle, Brady Boeck, Ada and Nathan Boeck, Ada; his great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Aaron Shirley, Chesapeake, VA, Allyssa Turney, Oklahoma City, Anven and Amrilyn Hawpe, Oklahoma City, Hannah Deitrick, Leia Deitrick and Emily Deitrick, Flower Mound, TX, and Cyrus Timmons, Tuttle; one-great-great granddaughter, Aurora Turney, Oklahoma City; sisters, Margle Skiles and husband, Herman, Winfield, KS and Lora Skiles Hodge and husband Jim, Holdenville; brother-in-law, Frank "Sonny" Skiles, Alemeda, CA; and many other relatives and friends.
Bearers will be Caleb Timmons, Jeremy Cowley, Sean Deitrick, Randy Skiles, Troy Skiles and Mark Skiles. Honorary bearers will be Sterlin Timmons, Dale Timmons, Douglas Skiles, Dwight Sutterfield, Dewayne Sutterfield, Wayne Johnson, George Gurley, Bill Kirkes, Bob Hooser, Carrel Bryant and Lonnie R. Manuel.
