CHESTER GIBSON
STRATFORD-Services for Chester Gibson, 63, Stratford are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Bobby Amos and Jr. Rush will officiate. Burial will follow at Byars Cemetery. A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Gibson died Friday, February 13, 2009 at his home. He was born September 2, 1945 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Raymond and Irene Amos Gibson. He lived in Wynnewood most of his life and moved to Stratford about 20 years ago.
He married Betty Jean Phillips at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2006. Mr. Gibson was a handyman most of his life and was a member of Country Mission Church at Stratford. He attended church at the Gospel Lighthouse in Pauls Valley. He enjoyed gospel singing, church, camping, fishing, cook-outs, talking to everyone and he always made friends where ever he went.
Survivors include his six children, Tonia Sloan and husband Chris, Stratford, Cornelia Balthrop and husband Robert, Ada, Stacey Gibson, Chester Ray Gibson and wife Michelle, Ada, Terry Gibson, Ada, and Clayton Gibson, Ada; his mother, Irene Gibson, Pauls Valley; four brothers, James Gibson and wife Darlene, Pauls Valley, Joe Gibson, Wynnewood, Anthony Gibson and wife Tammy, Oklahoma City, and Clifford Gibson and wife Della, Durant; eleven grandchildren, Dustin, Jessica, Austin and Ernie Gibson all of Ada, Dalton, Chamrie, Deserae and Jamae Gibson, all of Ada, Kacey Gibson, Stratford, and Rosie and Tiffany.
He was preceded in death by his father, his wife, a grandson, Skyler Gibson; two granddaughters, Chelsey and Chasity Gibson; a brother, Lester Gibson; a sister, Ethel Wallace; two nephews, Johnny Wallace and Jason Gibson; and a niece, Candice Gibson.
Bearers will be Roger Dale Gibson, Michael Amos, Justin Amos, Luther Gibson, Jr. Dorman, Dustin Gibson, Ricky Johnson and Ricky Bohanon. Honorary bearers will be his grandsons, nephews and cousins.
