CHESTER DIXON
ADA-Services for Chester Lee Dixon, 71, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Joyce Parker and Michael Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis, Rev. Buddy Barcheers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Dixon died Sunday, July 1, 2012. He was born September 12, 1940 at Bennington, Oklahoma to Clarence and Annie Leona Hanks Dixon. He attended school in Moore, Oklahoma.
He married Melba Sue Copeland on June 12, 1965. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2007. He and his family moved to Francis about 1966 from Moore. Mr. Dixon was self-employed carpenter until his retirement. He was taught the trade by his father at a very young age. He built many homes and business in the Ada area. Mr. Dixon was a licensed minister. He clocked many thousands of hours as a very diligent student of the Word of God with Daniel and Revelation being some of his greatest joys to study and teach. He taught Sunday school and many advanced adult bible studies. He also evangelized in California with his sister, Rev. Joyce Parker of Enos House of Prayer in Enos, Oklahoma.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Sue Dixon and LaDonna Lea Dixon Dempsey; two grandchildren, Brent Dewight Dempsey and Melissa Lea Dempsey; sisters, Joyce Parker and husband Ray, Mary Lou Beeson and the late Don Beeson, Wanda Jean Dollar and husband David, and Shirley Ann Williams; a brother, Lester Dixon and wife Brenda; step-brother, Ricky Dixon; and many nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be Brent Dempsey, Rev. Lester Dixon, Rev. Willie White, Robert Vick, Bill Brunk and Tim Shropshire. Honorary bearers will be Ron Dempsey, Lonnie West, Rev. Buddy Barcheers, and Leonard Delozier.
