CHARLOTTE HOLLIS
ADA-Services for Charlotte Hollis, 84, Ada, are 2:00 P.M. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Dr. Roberto Escamilla and Rev. Bob Langston officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hollis died on Wednesday, August 25, 2010. She was born August 8, 1926, in Oklahoma City to Harvey Edward and Esther Gladys Harris Ross. She attended school in Ada and graduated from Ada High School. She also attended East Central University and was a retired bookkeeper. She was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church, was an active choir member and also played the violin, cello and piano and sang in a trio along with her sister. She worked at McDonnell-Douglas during WWII and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chimney Hill Chapter, serving as Past Regent.
She married J. W. "Bill" Hollis on May 6, 1946 in Ardmore. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hawkins and husband Phillip, Ada; sons, E. H. "Butch" Hollis, Hamilton, Montana; and John Hollis, Ada; two brothers, Richard Ross and wife Lois, Ada; and Jon Ross and wife Margie, Ada; three grandchildren, Casey Hawkins and wife Wendy, Zac Hawkins and wife Jennifer, and Katie Hollis; and four great grandchildren, Allysen Hawkins, Lauryn Hawkins, Jayli Hawkins and Addisyn Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Joy Dixon, and a grandchild, Brendan Kaase.
