BUDDY YOUNT

ALLEN-Services for Charles Buddy Yount, 79, Allen, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Allen High School Auditorium, Rev. Buddy Drake will officiate. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday until service time.

Mr. Yount died Monday, February 2, 2009 at his home. He was born January 7, 1930 at Allen, Oklahoma to C. Mancel and Ruby Kidwell Yount. He attended Allen schools and graduated from Allen High School in 1948. He was an outstanding baseball player and signed with the New York Yankee Farm Team in McAlester, Oklahoma.

He married Kattie Wallace on March 3, 1950. Mr. Yount was a forklift operator at the Naval Depot in McAlester until his retirement. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the 45th Division.

Survivors include three daughters, Sheila Matthews and husband Gary, Francis, Debbie Cundiff and husband Kenny, Allen, and Paula Colbert and husband Larry, Allen; his mother, Ruby Yount, Allen; seven grandchildren, Sheryl Goodson, Kanan Matthews, John Cundiff, Jodi Watkins, Adam Colbert, Justin Colbert, and Chad Colbert; and eight great grandchildren, Kinlee and Kamlyn Cundiff, Jaycee and Jax Watkins, Bodrey Goodson, Gus and Jake Matthews, and Lilly Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Daughtery.

Bearers will be his grandsons, Kanan Matthews, Justin Colbert, Adam Colbert, Chad Colbert, John Cundiff, Stan Wallace, Jack Goodson, and Jason Watkins. Honorary bearers will be Ed Windell, Bill Griffin, Kerry Caldwell, Gene Prentice, Bob Triplett, Bud Sims, Sonny Wallace, David Wallace, Johnny Cozad, Virgil Walker, and Tim Robertson.
