CHARLES MCCLURE
ADA-Services for Charles Wade McClure, 64, of Ada are 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Linda Snelling will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. McClure died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home. He was born February 21, 1950 in San Diego, California to C. W. and Opal Mae Walker McClure. He and his family moved to the Ada/Byng/Latta areas where he graduated from Byng High School. He attended technical school before joining the U. S. Army. He served for four years on assignments in Missouri and Alaska.
He married Sandi Vails on April 1, 1983 in Durant. One of Mr. McClure's 1st jobs was working for Vogt Sheet Metal in Ada. He later was employed with the Oklahoma State Highway Department. In 2004, he retired from the Highway Department as Office Manager, Division 3 after 33 years of service. Mr. McClure was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sandi McClure, of the home; son, Chad Staubus and his wife Wendy; his daughter, Stephanie Fidler; his grandchildren, Brody Staubus, Cody Staubus, Zachary Fidler and wife Kirsten; a great grandson, Quaid Fidler; his sisters, Mary Dickson and husband David of Bella Vista, AR, and Leath Pitta and her husband John of Salinas, CA; three children from a previous marriage, Christopher, Megan and Joseph McClure; and many friends and extended family.
Bearers will be Ragan Knickmeyer, Brandon Morgan, Dale Stringer, Joe Williams, Zac Fidler and Chad Staubus. Honorary bearers will be his brothers-in-law, David Dickson, John Pitta, Gene Brumfield and Jack Sullivan; and Jesse Fullingim, Phil Rhynes, Glen Gouge, Gary Haney, Tom Haney, Clint Sturdevant and Samps McCowan.
