CHARLES FOREHAND
ADA-Services for Charles H. Forehand, 87, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Rev. Martin Gustin will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Forehand died Monday, September 2, 2013 at his home. He was born July 18, 1926 at Oak Grove, Oklahoma to Henry and Lydia Boyd Forehand. He attended Oak Grove grade school and graduated from Coalgate High School. He attended East Central University in Ada. He moved to Ada in 1951 from Coalgate.
He married Patsy Scott on July 14, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Mr. Forehand worked for Coal County for four years and later retired in 1982 from the Oklahoma State Department of Transportation. Mr. Forehand started "Forehand's Garage". He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #11194 in Stratford. Mr. Forehand had served in the U. S. Army from 1944 until being honorably discharged in 1946 during World War II. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the World War II Army of Occupation Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Forehand, of the home; two daughters, Nelda Osborn, Ada and Frances Alexander and her husband Ronny of Ada; a son, Charles Hugh Forehand and wife Cheryl of Ada; a son-in-law, Richard Byrd, Ada; his grandchildren, Johnny and Misty Osborn, Mike and Lisa Osborn, Laura and Todd Ray, Chris Alexander, Kristi Byrd, Chad Alexander, Ashley and Zac Brady, and Stacy and Cameron Brady; great grandchildren, Justin Osborn, Lindsay Howell, Bailey Osborn, Trenton Osborn, Shelbe Ray, Easton Ray and Jace Brady; and a great great grandchild, Bentley Howell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary Jane Byrd, sisters, Genevieve Lauritzen and Pattie Rogers and a son-in-law, Johnny Osborn, Sr.
Bearers will be Johnny Osborn Jr., Mike Osborn, Chris Alexander, Chad Alexander, Todd Ray, Zac Brady and Cameron Brady. Honorary bearers will be Wayne King, Gene Thomas, Morgan Wells, Robert Tollison, Doyle Johnson, Mark Reed and Charles Nester.
