CHARLES MARVIN FLOYD, JR.
Charles Marvin "Charlie" Floyd, Jr., 86, of Ada are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Floyd died Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his home. He was born July 22, 1925, to Charles Marvin and Lillie Martin Floyd, Sr., at Paducah, Texas. He graduated from Roff High School and had lived in Pontotoc County all but five years of his life which he spent working for Phillips Petroleum in Borger, Texas. Later he was employed as a farmer and rancher, and had retired after 36 years of employment with OG&E as a lineman and supervisor. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
He and Mary Kathryn Gilstrap were married Jan. 18, 1946, at Roff.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, of the home; three daughters, Janice Manuel and husband Troy, Kay Pinley and husband Mike; and Sue Hamilton and husband Gary, all of Ada; one son, Randy Floyd and wife Debi, Ada; one sister, Juanita Lofland, Mustang; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete Floyd and Loye Floyd; and three sisters, Velma Graham, Pauline Stevens and Laverne Ramer.
Grandsons will serve as bearers – Trever Manuel, Trey Manuel, Jeremy Richardson, Ty Floyd, Ryan Richardson, J.R. Floyd, Cooper Hamilton, Richie Miller and Jason Miller.
Honorary bearers are Jim (Woody) Burns, Gene Myers, Bob Hobson, Curt Canida, Floyce Lanier and Roger Burns.
