Carole Clawson

Memorial services for Carole Lynn Clawson, 76, of Owasso, formerly of Ada are 2:00 p.m Friday, November 6, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada.

Ms. Clawson passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at a Tulsa hospital. She was born May 18, 1944 at Ada to Claude and Norma Gene Shipley Click. She and her family moved to Duncan where she attended and graduated from Duncan High School. She was an avid tennis player and a member of the high school band in which she played the clarinet.

After high school, she attended East Central State College in Ada where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education and a minor in Business Education. Carole was named a member of the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, 1966 -67 edition.

Carole married Charles Clawson February 11, 1967 and were married for 25 years. From their marriage they had three children: Robert, Suzan and Christa. Carole stayed home and raised her children, but always found ways to help in her community as well. She helped teach Sunday School, was involved in the Girl Scout community as a leader to help young girls become strong women and spent over 15 years as an instructor and trainer for the Red Cross. Carole spent her life trying to make the world a better place.

After raising her kids, Carole went back to school to get her Master's Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Special Education from East Central University. She taught as a college instructor for physical education at ECU for over 10 years, where she taught all levels of aquatics, CPR, first aid, and adapted aquatics. She taught in the Ada City School system as a para-professional for 3 years, as well as becoming the director of a Day Care for 1.5 years. After retiring from working, Carole spent several years taking care of her elderly mother in Duncan, OK before returning to Owasso to be closer to family after her mother passed away.

Survivors include a son, Robert Eugene Clawson and wife Ronda, Tulsa; daughter, Suzan Lynnette Maloy and husband Doug, Owasso; daughter, Christa Dawn Clawson, Tulsa; two grandchildren, Madison Maloy and Jake Maloy; and a brother, Robert Frank Click, Tulsa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Norma Gene Click.
