Carmon L. Murray
Graveside services for Carmon L. Murray, 84, of Ada are 9:00 a.m. Friday at Rosedale Cemetery, his son-in-law, Rev. David Gray will officiate.
Mr. Murray passed away Friday, August 30, 2019 at his home. He was born September 8, 1934 at Konawa to Ozzie J. and Alma F. Byrd Murray. He lived in the Ada area his entire life. Carmon was baptized June 23, 1946 at Oak Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of the Ahloso Baptist Church. He graduated from Stonewall High School in 1953 and attended East Central University.
He married Zoe Brown May 1, 1986 in Ada. She preceded him in death July 6, 2013. Mr. Murray had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone (AT&T), retiring April 1, 1988. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp. in Korea from August 26, 1953 until being honorably discharged as a Sergeant August 25, 1956.
Carmon enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He was a licensed gun dealer for many years and had a vast knowledge of guns, knives and other collectibles. Most of all, he was proud of his family, his career with Ma Bell and his military service. He was a true American Patriot and lived by the motto "God, Family, Country".
Survivors include his children, Victor Murray and wife Darla, Karen Gray and husband David, Diana Wallis and husband Gregg, all of Ada, and Daniel Murray of Stonewall; a sister, Josie May Brashears of Broken Arrow; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a grandson, Joshua Curtis Murray.
