CARMELETA NEWTON

ADA-Services for Carmeleta Newton, 73, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Bud Ross will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Newton died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at a local hospital. She was born October 18, 1934 at Ada, Oklahoma to Thomas Henry and Hazel May Pegg Etier. She attended Ada schools.

She married Rudy D. Newton on October 6, 1950 in Ada, Oklahoma. They were married for 57 years. Mrs. Newton was a homemaker, and formerly a cosmetology instructor for Lela's Beauty College. She later owned and operated two beauty shops in Ada. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Rudy Newton, of the home; two daughters, Vickey Lynn Bowman and husband Dan, Jackson, Mississippi, and Pamela Diane Newton, Ada; one son, Rudy Dale Newton, Jr., Byng; three sisters, Jean Davis and husband Jack, Newalla, Nita Fowler and husband Andy, Ada, and Nema Stepehenson and husband Dick, Ada; three grandchildren, Joshua Swearingen, Amber Gates, and Amanda Holder and husband Bryan; and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Dillon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Lou Smith, and a nephew, Danny Davis.

Bearers will be Jack Davis, Andy Fowler, Dick Stephenson, Bill Smith, Bobby Gray, Bill Brady, and Gail Blankenship.
