Carla June Brooks Little was born January 28, 1950, in Quanah, Texas, to Quinton Story Brooks and Doris Naomi Sessums. She passed away peacefully in her home in Ada, OK on September 24, 2026.

Carla was the third of four children and at an early age showed her maternal nature. She cared for her baby sister and always wanted to speak up for her and care for her. She always mothered both of her brothers as well.

Living nine miles from town with no near neighbor children, made the siblings each other’s playmates. The boys were creative building rocket ships, race cars, and shootouts. She and Lisa were always involved in whatever adventures were created. Cecil thought of the adventure. Terry tried it, then if Terry survived, Cecil would do it, and then talk Lisa into doing it. Carla always watched with skepticism and good sense, but we always convinced her to participate, to which she would end up with the breath knocked out of her, or a skin scrape here or there. She always went away quite aggravated, threatening to tell mama on us. Miraculously, there were never any stitches or broken bones.

Carla grew up wanting to cook just like Mother. Her early attempts to make delicious biscuits wound up flat and crispy like a cookie. Though she was disappointed, her siblings thought they were very good.

Many songs were sung, much work was done together, and lots of fights as all siblings do. When grown, everyone decided they had a grand childhood.

Because Carla and Lisa were one year apart, they were best friends and shared the same bed. They were often scolded to be quiet and go to sleep.

She attended Calvin Public School for all twelve years, graduating in 1968.

At Christmas in 1967, she became engaged to the love of her life, Larry Joe Little, and they were married on May 31, 1968. Their devotion to one another has remained steadfast for 58 years and 3 months.

After marrying, they moved to Stillwater, for Larry to finish college. Then to Missouri, where Larry became a Vo-Ag instructor in Golden City. During their time there, they welcomed two children; Michelle, born in Carthage, and Bruce, born in Joplin. They formed many friendships in Missouri that became lifelong treasures.

In 1974, the family moved to Latta, where Larry began his long career as the Vo-Ag instructor at Latta Public Schools. Carla enjoyed accompanying FFA trips, substituting, and getting to know the Ag students. A few even called her “Momma Carla,” bringing her joy, laughter, and a sense of belonging.

Carla always had a heart for babies; never missing a chance to hold one. During these years, she babysat many children, loving each of them as her own.

In 1978, Carla and Larry found their farmhouse in Fitzhugh, Oklahoma. She loved mowing the yard, weed-eating, and planting flowers.

After the kids got old enough to take care of themselves, she became a Nurse’s Aide at Valley View Hospital in Ada, where her favorite place to serve was the OB Ward. She continued babysitting, though less often after moving farther from town, and she poured her love into her home and family.

At age 38, Carla bravely decided to try college at ECU. She succeeded in her classes but ultimately chose to spend her time doing the things she loved most.

She later worked for the Farm Service Agency for many years, helping farmers and ranchers across the county file USDA disaster programs. She truly loved working with people.

Carla taught her family to love God with all their hearts. She lived a life of service; especially to her family.

When her grandchildren were born, Carla found renewed joy. She cherished every moment with them, especially cooking together when they were little. She loved teaching her 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School class at Fitzhugh Baptist Church, and she was blessed to teach her own grandchildren. She delighted in bringing snacks each Sunday and also served faithfully in the Nursery for many years.

Serving others was woven into her identity. Thanksgiving and Christmas were her special ministries—she insisted on preparing the entire meal herself, working tirelessly to make sure everyone was fed perfectly. She rarely sat down to eat until she was certain every person had exactly what they needed. She continued this tradition until she physically could no longer do it, enduring great pain just to bless her family.

She loved having her grandchildren over to watch movies, eat popcorn, or enjoy hot chocolate.

Carla’s greatest advice to anyone would be this: Always let God lead you through your path in life. Life without Him is confusion and unhappiness. Take pride in who you are and in your family. Never be too proud to ask for help. Seek God’s will, and never be afraid to stand alone if you are doing what is right according to His Word.

Services will be held Monday, September 25, 2026 at 10:00 at the Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, OK.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the building fund for First Baptist Church of Fitzhugh; Fitzhugh, OK.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Joe Little; her children Bruce Allen and Cheryl Fuson Little, and Joseph Shane and Michelle Diane Little Ellison; her grandchildren Tanner Andrews Buchanan, Noah Ryan and Taylor Buchanan Smith, Eric Steven and Mishana Rachelle Brown, William Joseph and Amity Jo Aleene Ellison, Rayna Shianne Ellison, and Todd Brayden and Anna LiShan Ellison Fox; and great‑grandchildren Tristen Eric Brown and Lily Ann Pearl Brown. Her brother, Terry Lynn and Linda Perryman Brooks; sister Lisa Marie Roberts, and sister-in law, Shirley June and Dan Monday, along with many wonderful nieces and a nephew, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Quinton Story Brooks, her mother Doris Naomi Brooks, and her brother Cecil Lee Brooks.
