Dr. Carl Larry Osborn, 70, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Arvada, Colorado. Services will be Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Ada, Oklahoma. Everyone is welcome.
Larry was born in Dallas, Texas on January 15, 1944 to Carl D. Osborn, M.D. and Rose Quinn Osborn. In 1947, the family moved to Ada, Oklahoma. Larry graduated from Ada High School in 1962, attended East Central State College in Ada as a pre-med student from 1962-1965, then Oklahoma University Medical School in 1965, and graduated in 1970. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in 1974.
In 1974, Larry moved to Denver, Colorado where he began his 32-year career with Kaiser-Permanente Medical Group until his retirement in 2006 due to the onset of Parkinson's Disease. During his career, Larry delivered over 6000 babies and managed 5 to 7 physicians and their office staff. He was honored on one occasion as "Physician of the Year" from a group of approximately 350 physicians. Larry will be remembered as an incredible teacher, friend, empath, and gentle soul. He was intuitive, smart, an excellent doctor and teacher. He was calm under fire and yet had a fire within him that burned so brightly.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Ross, his mother, Rose Quinn Osborn of Ada, his daughters, Laura Osborn and husband Asbed Bedrossian of Glendale, California; Mahate Sara Rose Osborn of Oakland, California; his nephew, Ross Osborn and wife Louise of St. Augustine, Florida; his niece Amber Shelton Jones and husband Chris of Oklahoma City, 2 brothers, Dave Osborn and wife Jan of Yukon, Oklahoma; Quinn Osborn and wife Debbie of Athens, Tennessee; 2 sisters, Sharon and husband Dale Myers of Ada, Oklahoma; Nancy and husband Marty Eison of Frisco, Texas; and his 'bonus daughter' Rhonda Tribble Ensey of Yukon, Oklahoma and her son Chance Lawrence and daughter Maddie Ensey. He was lovingly referred to as Uncle Larry by several nieces and nephews.
Larry adored his grandchildren Daron and Lily Bedrossian, Rowan Osborn, Gabriella O and Matthew Osborn, and Drew and Christen Thompkins. His father, Carl D. Osborn, and Betsy's son, Brandon Osborn, preceded Larry in death.
A quote from Larry: "If anyone asks how I want to be remembered, please say the following about me: Although I often failed, I tried to live up to the 12 points of the Scout Law: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent. Also, I sought humility, realizing the oxymoron."
Larry's legacy was not only in his accomplishments, but also especially in the people's lives that he touched. He was a good and kind servant of mankind and will not be forgotten. The family suggests that in his honor memorials be made to Parkinson's Disease Research Foundation.
