JIM CRAWFORD
FRANCIS-Services for Carl James "Jim" Crawford, Sr. 65, Francis are 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dean Stone and Robert Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Francis. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Crawford died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 in Healdton, Oklahoma. He was born February 9, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Hobart James and Dana Lavonne Miller Crawford. He attended Grant school in Oklahoma City and received his G. E. D. in the U. S. Army and later attended Oscar Rose College in Midwest City.
He married Janet Sue Wells on August 27, 1961 at Bethel Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where he was a member. He served in the U. S. Army from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam Era. He was stationed at the Nike Missile Base near Pacific, Missouri. He was employed with Tinker Air Force Base for 10 years and later was a truck driver for Evergreen Mills, Reagent Chemical and Transwood Trucking until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Crawford, of the home; one son, Carl James "Jimmy" Crawford, Jr., Norman; one daughter, Karla Sue Prewitt and husband Kevin L. Prewitt, Newcastle; two grandsons, Kyler Zane Prewitt and Kodey James Prewitt, Newcastle; his parents, Hobart James "Bud" Crawford and Dana Lavonne Crawford, Guthrie; one sister, Carol Ann Folsom and husband Jimmy, Wellston; two brothers-in-law, Robert "Butch" Wells, Jr. and wife Mary, Newcastle, and Carl Lee Wilson and wife Judy, Francis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert W. Wells, Sr. and Lovella Myrtle Merrill Wells.
Bearers will be Carl James "Lil Jim" Crawford, Jr., Kevin Prewitt, Kyler Prewitt, Kodey Prewitt, Robert "Butch" Wells, Glenn Wilson, Curtis Wilson, and Jerry Pack. Honorary bearers will be Carl Lee Wilson and James Folsom.
