Branon Scott Updegraff, age 59
November 20, 1966 – July 24, 2026
Branon was a 1985 graduate of Ada High School and excelled in Tennis achieving All State status his Senior year in Doubles. He spent two years at Oklahoma State University and then left to pursue other endeavors.
Branon got in on the ground floor of DISH Network, where he built a reputation as the leading sales representative and installer throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area — a role that reflected both his work ethic and his natural gift for connecting with people.
That gift showed up everywhere in his life. Branon loved a good conversation, especially with those older than him, believing there was always wisdom to be gained if you took the time to listen. He was known for phone calls that could stretch on for hours, and for a way of making the people he loved feel truly loved — unconditionally, and without reservation.
Later in life Branon decided to take a flying lesson and the bug bit. He pursued his second career attaining his Commercial and Instrument Multi-Engine license and worked doing aerial GPS mapping. He loved to talk about aviation, a love that he inherited naturally from his Father Bill.
An avid and skilled hunter, Branon pursued nearly every game there was to chase, and some of his happiest days were spent out in the wild with his dog at his side, tracking down his next big trophy.
Branon is survived by his stepfather, Stu Stopak; his brother, David Updegraff; his sister, Cortne Lee Kent; his step-sister's, Mei-Ling Stopak and Ei-Ling Smith; his Aunt Tammy Janik; his nephew, Dixon Kent; his Nieces, Alexandria Damian, Alannah Updegraff, and Cortlyn Jones; and his First Cousins Leslie Hayes, Donna Moore, and Charles Neal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Suzanne Updegraff. Additionally, he has many extended family from the Updegraff, Ferris, Freeman, and Creswell lineage throughout Southeastern Oklahoma and beyond.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Ada, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Connerville Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather afterward at the Connerville Community Center.
Another cowboy rides away...we miss him already and terribly!
