BOBBY SHELTON
BYNG-Services for Bobby Gene Shelton, 69, Byng, are 1:00 P.M. Friday at Abundant Life Tabernacle, Rev. Mickey Keith officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Shelton died on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at his home. He was born January 5, 1939, at Chickasha, Oklahoma, to John and Minola Akin Shelton. He attended grade school at Willard, and graduated from Horace Man High School in 1957 as an honor student. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1957-1959, owned and operated a domino parlor, "My Place" from 1964 to 2005, and also owned "Quality Storm Shelters" from 1975 until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Life Community Church where he served as usher and greeter.
He married JoAn Daniel on September 22, 1962 at Durant.
Survivors include his wife, JoAn Shelton, of the home; one daughter, Tammy Dew and husband Jimmy, Union Hill; two grandsons, Dustin Dew and fiance, Kala Dobbins; and Dakotta Dew and fiance, Katie Henson; other daughter (niece), Carol Rushton and family, Shreveport, Louisiana; three sisters, Bernidine O'Brien, Ada, Sue Johnson and husband Arley, Ada, and Violet Sliger and husband Bob, Ada; brothers, Clell Shelton, Austin, Texas, Ted Shelton and wife Billie, Ahloso, Bill Shelton, Ada, and Jerry Shelton and wife Elaine, Ada; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Bob Shelton on May 25, 1991; parents, John and Minola Shelton; an infant sister, Patsy June; brother-in-law, Heber O'Brien; sister-in-law, Linda Shelton; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jeff and Sylvia Daniel.
Bearers are Mitch Shelton, Michael O'Brien, Jim Johnson, Bobby K. Sliger, Rick Shelton and Jerry Lynn Shelton. Vanoss Baseball Team will serve as honorary bearers.
