Bob Hobson, Sr.
Services for Bobby Ray Hobson Sr., 87, of Ada, are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Ware will officiate.
A committal service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, OK.
Bobby Ray Hobson Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 17, 2018, in Tulsa at the Saint Simeon's Healthcare Center.
Bob was born December 27, 1930, in Luling, Texas, to J. Cecil and Bertha Brush Hobson. He graduated from Purcell High School and joined the Air Force. He and Willene Frances Smith were married on May 24, 1952.
He served four years in the Air Force stationed in Austin and San Marcos, Texas. They moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, where Bob began working for O G & E as a lineman in 1958. They were transferred to Healdton until Bob received a promotion in 1963 as an accountant for O G & E in Ada. In 1986 Bob took early retirement at age 55 from O G & E after twenty-eight years. He worked part-time for Service Chevrolet as a driver transferring new vehicles for the next ten years. He and Willene enjoyed traveling in their motor home after she retired. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church as well as the Rotary Club. He was also active in the United Way for many years. Bob enjoyed fishing, woodworking, do-it-yourself projects, working in the yard, and their English bulldogs.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Teresa Mayhue and husband, Charlie, of Ada; a grandson, Mason Mayhue and wife, Amy, of Ada; granddaughter Megan Sontag and husband, Ritchie, of Tulsa; granddaughter Whitney Winslow and husband, Andrew, of Tulsa; grandson, Brent Hobson and wife, Rachel, of Kennesaw, Georgia; granddaughter Bayli-Jayne Hobson of Tulsa; his great-grandchildren, Barrett Sontag, Will Sontag, Reed Sontag, Lincoln Winslow, Claire Winslow, and Vincent Hobson.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Willene of 66 years; his son, Bobby Hobson; parents J. Cecil and Bertha Hobson; brother J. C. Hobson; sister-in-law Tommie Hobson.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Ada Cougars Care Fund (a fund created to assist students in the Ada School System with eyeglasses, clothing, or other needs), c/o Ada City Schools, P. O. Box 1350, Ada, OK 74821.
