Obituary

Robert "Bob" "Dada" Dunlap McFarling went home to be with Jesus on September 6, 2022. Bob was born to Dr. John and Justine McFarling in Shawnee, Oklahoma on April 30, 1938. Bob attended and Graduated from Shawnee High school where he met and married the love of his life, Ramona Kay Knoles, on October 14, 1960. Together they shared 62 years, 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Dada was an avid sport fan and successful athlete.  He made sure that all his children were just as competitive as he was. A few of his biggest sports achievements were being selected as an Daily Oklahoman All-State football team- 1956, Mid-state conference football team-1956, All Southern OK All-Star football team- 1956, Tulsa World Dream Team 1956- special recognition, Mid-State Conference All Star Basketball team- 1956, State Champion- 100 yard dash- 1956, State Champion-220 yard dash- 1956, State Runner up- 440 yard dash- 1956, Shawnee High School athlete of the year- 1956. After his state champion finish in 1956, Bob was offered a full ride to Oklahoma State University for track and field, where he ran on the 440, 880, and mile relay teams that posted some of the fastest times in the country. He was a member of the sprint medley relay team that set a short-lived world record. In 1994, Dada was inducted into the Oklahoma State University Track and Field Hall of Honor.

Bob owned the Heritage House Furniture Store in Ada with his business partner. He is most infamously known for working at the The Runner in Ada for many years selling sporting goods, and later running the Sports shop inside the Ada Walmart and being a door greeter. He was also a Grand Master Mason in Ada, Oklahoma. In his later years in life, Dada enjoyed being at home with his wife and helping to keep "his boys." As a family, we will miss him most for his unconditional love of the Dallas Cowboys, his ability to assign an acronym to any saying or name, and his uncanny ability to make a joke or laugh at the most inappropriate time.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona, of the home. Brad and wife, Vonda, of Fairview, Texas. Debi and Husband, Mark, of Ada, Oklahoma. Also his grandchildren and their spouses- Brennon and Olivia, of Gerty, Oklahoma. Montana and Kirsten, of Ada, Oklahoma. Anthony and Presli, of Ada, Oklahoma. Dalton and Grace, of Melissa, Texas. And Daaron and Courtney, of Anna, Texas. Lastly, his great-grandchildren- Cayser, Boadie, Ayla, Taycee, Laklyn, Warren, Beau, Jake, Creek, Gunner, Colt, and Cord.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later time.
