BILLYE BARRINGER
ADA-Services for Billye Jo Barringer, 92, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Randall Martin will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barringer died Wednesday, August 14, 2014 at her home. She was born April 16, 1922 at Hickory to Sidney Ozbirn and Jennie Ellen Nordean Ozbirn. Shortly after her family moved to Lawrence, she graduated from Fitzhugh High School. She attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX and received her Bachelor of Science degree. She received her Master's degree from East Central University in Ada.
On September 10, 1945, she and John A. Barringer were married in Seattle, WA. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Barringer was a classroom teacher from 31 years having taught 26 years for the Ada Public Schools. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Ada. She and her husband taught Sunday school for several years in the Junior High Dept. She served as a deacon and was active in the Disciples Sunday School Class. She participated in the Crosspoint Walk to Emmaus in 1997. Mrs. Barringer was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ada Chapter No. 78 and the Ada Lodge #1640 B. P. O. E.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. John B. Barringer of Ardmore; a daughter, Lisa Boggs of Ada; four grandchildren, Blair Boggs, John Ashton Barringer, Caitlin Elizabeth Barringer and Amanda Michele Barringer; and 3 great-grandchildren, John Brooks Barringer, Ayden Barringer and Charles Thomas Barringer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Bearers will be Will Boggs, Ashton Barringer, Mark Williams, Don Page, Bob Barnard and Dr. Roy Doty.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the First Christian Church Memoral Foundation, in memory of Mrs. Barringer, 101 E. 13th Street, Ada, OK 74820.
