TUPELO-Services for Billy Joe Woods, 81, Tupelo, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tupelo Church of Christ. Wendell Ingram will officiate. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery, near Clarita.

Mr. Woods died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at a Tishomingo care center. He was born Sept. 16, 1932, to J.A. "Jim" and Tennie Hudson Woods at Pleasant Hill in Coal County. He attended Clarita Schools and was a member of the Tupelo Church of Christ. He was a farmer and rancher in the Tupelo area and was a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. Woods and Frances Lorene Foreman were married Dec. 22, 1951, at Ada.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene, of the home; a son, Larry Woods and wife Kathy, Tupelo; a daughter, Marie Shoemaker, of the home; a sister, Juanita Williams, Colbert; three brothers, Jimmie Woods, Dale Woods and Harold Woods, all of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Charity Eidson, Terry Eidson, Chris Woods and wife Taylor, Chad Woods and wife Cierra, and Lisa Marie Shoemaker; and four great-grandchildren, Jace Eidson, Jaycee Eddings, Karsyn Woods and Kamryn Choate.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Joy Woods; a grandson, Timothy Woods; and a brother, Harvey Woods.

Bearers are Charles Hudson, Randy Bills, Chris Lloyd, Ed King, Kenny Ray and Johnny Flowers. Honorary bearers are Bobby Ingram, Bobby Woods, Winfred Westbrook and Dale Marshall.
