ADA-Services for Billy Ray "Bill" Vandegriff, 62, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mickey Keith will officiate.
Mr. Vandergriff died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his home. He was born April 28, 1950 at Ada, Oklahoma to Elmer W. (E.W.) and Lorene Pinley Vandegriff. He attended Irving grade school and graduated from Latta High School in 1968. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master's Degree in Human Services Administration from East Central University.
He married Karen Harrison on May 31, 1996 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Vandegriff worked for the Department of Human Services in the Office of Client Advocacy for 11 years as an investigator and advocate. He also was a Case Manager and worked as a juvenile probation officer. For 10 years, he worked as s a Probation and Parole Officer for the Department of Corrections, and a year as the Pontotoc County Bailiff. Mr. Vandegriff was a member of the Evangelist Temple for 24 years and for many years he attended the First Baptist Church in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Vandegriff, of the home; a daughter, Calli Vandegriff, of the home; two brothers, Wendell "Sonny" Vandegriff of Ada, and Bob Vandegriff and his wife Joan, Owasso; a sister, Pat Goodwin, Oklahoma City; an aunt, Gail Pinley, Pauls Valley; and a brother-in-law, Mark Harrison, McAlester.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bearers will be Terry Shires, Lynn Porter, Wayne Jones, Alvin Shores, Gary Don Hill and Jerrell Choate.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the First Baptist Church, Falls Creek Cabin Building Fund, 521 S. Broadway, Ada, OK 74820.
