Bill Harrison

Memorial services for Billy Joe Harrison, 79, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Central Church of Christ Family Life Center. Bud Ross will officiate. A Committal Service was held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Vamoosa Cemetery, with Rev. David "Luke" Fortner officiating.

Mr. Harrison passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Sulphur Veteran's Center. He was born May 3, 1938 at Wewoka to Frank Jack and Dovie Barrett Harrison. He lived in this area all his life, graduated from Vamoosa High School, and lived in Ada for 55 years.

He married JoElla Stockton February 14, 1963 in Konawa. Bill was a bookkeeper, then office manager and retired after 23 years of service as the Plant Manager for Wickham's Meat Packing Plant. Later, he was the Office Manager for Dicus Super Markets for 15 years and then for the last eight years of his working career, worked for the Division of Commerce-Chickasaw Nation in the accounting department. Bill was affiliated with the Church of Christ. He had been an active member of the men's state bowling association and worked with the youth bowling league at the local and state level for many years. He served in the U. S. Army from 1958-1961 and was stationed in Germany. Bill was an avid OU sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, JoElla, of the home; a son, Joe Don Harrison of Ada; a daughter, Sherri Lance and her husband Bill of Sulphur; three grandsons, Justin Harrison and wife Alexis of Oklahoma City, Dakota Harrison of Oklahoma City and Blake Harrison of Ada; a granddaughter, Kaytee Waters of Sulphur; a sister, Bernice Gribble and husband Robert, Ada; two sisters-in-law, Jewel Dean Harrison, Konawa and Mary Harrison, Lawton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dovie Harrison; two brothers, Kenneth Harrison and Ed Harrison; and a sister, Frankie Johnson.
