BILLY CALDWELL
ADA-Services for Billy Glyn Caldwell, 81, of Ada, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, his son, Rev. Gary Caldwell will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Caldwell died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at a local hospital. He was born September 28, 1932 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Virgil Louis and Esther Lee Glazier Caldwell. He was raised in Allen, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school in 1951. Shortly after graduating, he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He married Barbara Sue Bryant on November 10, 1956 in Ada. They have been married for 58 years. During this time, they lived in Texas, Oklahoma and many other states while raising their children, but have lived in Ada for the last 48 years. Mr. Caldwell worked as a pipefitter most of his life and retired from the trade in 1994. Shortly thereafter, he went to work on his golf game three to four days a week and was a member of the "Grumpy Old Men's Golf Club".
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Caldwell, of the home; a son, Gary Caldwell and his wife Anita of Piedmont; two daughters, Debbie Carter and her husband Johnny of Ada, and Glenda Gonderman of Ada; seven grandchildren, Gavin Caldwell, Andrea Caldwell, Justin Carter, J. L. Carter, Tara Ray, Holly Clouse and Garrett Gonderman; nine great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Esther Caldwell; a sister, Virginia Herren; two brothers, Rayburn Caldwell and Donald Caldwell; and three grandsons, Grant Caldwell, and Garrison Caldwell and Tod Carter.
Bearers will be Johnny Carter, Justin Carter, Gavin Caldwell, Garrett Gonderman, Aaron Gray and Greg Bryant. Honorary bearers will be Bob Triplett, Dee Moore, Clyde Meeks and Trovall Pipkin.
