Bill (William) Spatz, II

Memorial services for William Henry Spatz, II, 71, of Ada are Friday, April 19 at 10:00 am at the American Legion in Ada.

Bill passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born February 10, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio to Albert William and Joan Marie Collins Spatz.

Bill served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpman, after earning the rank of Chief (E-7) Bill retired in 1990 as HMC Bill Spatz. Bill then went on to pursue a career as a lab technician working his way up and serving as the Chief Lab Tech for Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite, Nevada. Retiring once again to Ada, Oklahoma to spend his time with children and grandchildren.

Bill was an avid Amateur Radio Operator, motorcycle enthusiast, and veteran advocate. Donating his time to help local veteran outreach organizations specifically at American Legion Post 72 where he was the president of the Post 72 American Legion Amateur Radio Club (TALARC)

Survivors include a son, William Spatz, III and wife Kassandra of Ada; daughter, Sarah Thompson and husband Nathaniel of Ada; seven brothers, Alan Spatz and wife Penni, Roy, Utah, Douglas Spatz and wife Julie, Rock Springs, WY, Kenneth Spatz and wife Nicole, Wichita Falls, TX, Gerald Spatz, Clearfield, UT and David Spatz and wife Lynn of Murfreesboro, TN, Dale Spatz, Chesapeake, VA and Roy Spatz and wife Beatrice of Fairmont, MN; two sisters, Beverly Moore, Ogden, UT and Alberta Shaffer and husband Lou of Clearfield, UT; five grandchildren, Kylie Thompson, Nathaniel Thompson, Jr., Ian Thompson , Henry Spatz and Wiley Spatz; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James Spatz and Thomas Spatz.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Legion Post 72. Proceeds will go to the upcoming Wounded Warrior Run that will provide essentials to veterans in nursing homes.
