OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS-Services for Betty Lou Hufstedler Cannon, 86, Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Kevin Crooks will officiate. A Committal Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Cannon died Friday, September 21, 2007 at an Overland Park, Kansas nursing home. She was born February 24, 1921 at Thayer, Missouri, to Ashley Lee and Paralee Tennessee Stephens Hufstedler. She attended Thayer grade schools, and graduated from Thayer High School. She later graduated from Registered Nurse training at Morningside Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She came to this area in 1954 from Dallas, Texas.
She married Calvert L. Cannon on January 23, 1946 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He died on December 21, 1999 at Ada, Oklahoma. Mrs. Cannon worked for 27 years as a public health nurse at the Pontotoc County Health Department. She was affiliated with the First Christian Church of Ada, Oklahoma.
Survivors include a son, James Cannon and wife, Juanita, of Overland Park, Kansas; and many loving nieces and nephews, who live across Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Ohio.
