BETTY RAE DUTY
ADA-Services for Mrs. Betty Rae Duty, 86, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church, Rev. Vicki Crooks will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Duty died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at a local assisted living center. Betty Rae was born at home in Jesse, Oklahoma October 26, 1925 to Rae Thompson and Clara Mae Stevenson Thompson. She graduated valedictorian of her class at McLish High School in 1943 then attended classes at East Central State College and worked at the Oklahoma State Bank.
She married Bunny C. Rogers in 1945 and raised five children. They made their home at Latta until they moved to Stonewall in 1960. Mrs. Rogers moved the family back to Latta in 1967 and went to work at Ada Auto Parts and in 1972 she married Mr. Richard Duty who had four children. They moved to Topeka Kansas, then Dallas Texas and in 1978 returned to Ada where Mr. Duty retired from the Environmental Protection Agency. They made their home on South Highschool Street and were active members and leaders in the First Christian Church. She was a homemaker most of her life, and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Christian Women's Fellowship and the Fortnightly Study Club.
Mrs. Duty was preceded in death by her first husband Bunny Rogers, her second husband Richard Duty, her father Rae Thompson, her mother Clara Thompson, her brother Billy Thompson and Richard Duty's eldest son David Duty.
She is survived by two sisters, Linda Leach of Ada, OK and Patsy Stone of Houston TX, a brother Fred Thompson of Tulsa, OK and two sister-in-law's Odette Rogers of Ada and Barbara Skelton of Fittstown OK. She is survived by eight children, Stanley Rogers and his wife Vicki of Mechanicsville VA, Steve Rogers and his wife Patty of Stillwater OK, Susan Rogers of Ada OK, Sam Rogers of Santa Fe NM, Scott Rogers and his wife Nicole of Albuquerque NM, Teresa Duty of Santa Fe NM, Clint Duty and his wife Beth of Tulsa OK , Holly Easterling of Ada Ok and a daughter-in-law Kathleen Duty of Ada OK. She is survived by 21 grandchildren, Samantha Sanders and her husband Ryan, Justin Vigil, Sarah Rogers, Claire Snelson and her husband Joe, Stephanie Rogers, Seth Rogers, Cory Rogers, Kayla Rogers, Michael Smola, Julia Smola, Cedar Easterling, Zack Duty, Quinton Duty, Karlee Duty, Daniel Davila, Emerico Davila, Andrew Duty, Katelyn Duty, Madelyn Duty, Emily Duty and Hannah Duty and 5 great-grandchildren, Caden Duty, Kylee Duty, Jameson Snelson, Rylee Sanders and Addison Sanders.
Pallbearers are Steven Rogers, Sam Rogers, Scott Rogers, Clint Duty, Andrew Duty, and Michael Smola.
