BESSIE T. SMITH
ADA-Services for Bessie T. Smith, 89, Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. James Williams will officiate. A committal service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at a Tecumseh nursing home. She was born March 19, 1923 in Oklahoma to George and Mary McClure James. She graduated from high school and college.
She married Raymond Alex Smith. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1997. Mrs. Smith was a licensed practical nurse in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Arkansas.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Tonya Stephens and Tara Harrison, both of Arkansas; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two daughters, an infant, Carolyn Smith, and Loa Deaton on January 1, 2012.
