BARBARA GARRETT
ADA-Services for Barbara Ruth Garrett, 93, Ada, are 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Rollow Chapel of First United Methodist Church, Rev. David Daniel officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Garrett died on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at her home. She was born January 17, 1918, in Phillips, Oklahoma, to John Issac and Edith Beard Green. She graduated from Coalgate High School. She attended Wichita State and Oklahoma A & M. She and her husband co-owned and operated Garrett Book Company. She attended First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Bridge Club, Tanti Study Group, Chi Omega, and the Ruth Rachel Circle. She was a member of Oak Hills Country Club.
She married John Maurice Garrett on October 23, 1938. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Lionel Garrett, Ada; four granddaughters, Brittny Garrett, Dallas, Texas; Lacey Garrett, Houston, Texas; Dr. Keely Smith and her husband Sam, Houston, Texas; and Carla Garrett and and her husband, Sri Srinivasan, Arlington, Virginia; one grandson, Craig Garrett, Indianapolis, Indiana; and four great grandchildren, Maya Srinivasan, Vikram Srinivasan, Garrett Mahan Smith, and Sydney Elizabeth Smith.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Garrett, and a daughter-in-law, Kelly Garrett.
Bearers will be Bucky Buxton, Jim Rice, Wendell Fields, Roger Kite, Scott Eddings and Denver Davison.
