Arnold Van Zant, Sr.

Services for Arnold Lee Van Zant, Sr., 87, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Terry Neal will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery near Roff. The Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard will conduct military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00– 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Van Zant passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home. He was born May 18, 1931 at Fitzhugh to Clayton Darwin and Truba Emma Parker Van Zant. He received an Associate's Degree from Hills Business School in Oklahoma City.

He married Rosemarie Richards December 9, 1965 at Lebo, KS. Mr. Van Zant was a manager at a Texaco Gas Station, a member of the Hickory Baptist Church and had served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie, of the home; nine children, Elaine Higginbotham and husband Lewis, Malakoff, TX, Julia Ann Doris and husband Rick, Seattle, WA, Arnold Lee Van Zant, Jr. and wife Jerrie, Seminole, Carol Sharp and husband Bob, Lewisville, KY, Debra Kay Williams, Yukon, Rebecca Ann Van Zant, Ada, Michael Lynn Eugene Van Zant, Pauls Valley, Robert Clayton Van Zant, Sr. and wife Dawn, Shawnee and James Wayne Van Zant and wife Vickie, Ardmore; a brother, Darwin Ray Van Zant and wife Norma, Ulysses, KS; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His sons, grandsons and granddaughter are bearers. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will serve as bearers at the cemetery.
