AL MARTIN
ADA-Services for Arlis Lee "Al" Martin, 59, of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, Revs. Jamie Perry and Ken Wolf will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Mr. Martin died Monday, January 23, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born August 24, 1952 in Ada, Oklahoma to Opal L."Tom" and Marjorie Hunt Martin. He attended schools in Tupelo, Vanoss and graduated from Latta High School. He attended East Central University for one year, and later, after his retirement, he attended Murray State College in Tishomingo and received an Associate's Degree in Gunsmithing.
He married Betty Jane Richardson on March 25, 1972. Mr. Martin was employed with Frisco Railroad, later Burlington Northern - Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 22 years of service. After his retirement, he operated the family farm.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Martin, of the home; his mother, Marjorie Vandegriff of Vanoss; two sons, Eric Martin and his wife Lisa of Ada, and Evan Martin and his wife Angela of Ada; a sister, Pat McCauley and her husband Benton of McLoud; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Wood of Altus and Jim Richardson and his wife Sherry of Ada; and five granddaughters, Bre-Ann Martin, Julia Claire Martin, Dylan Gray, Ashlyn Wisbauer and Ella Rose Wisbauer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Opal L. "Tom" Martin; his step-father, Norrell Vandegriff; and a sister, Marian Wood.
Bearers will be Justin West, Kevin Shaw, Keith Allred, Dylan Gray, Lyle Henderson, Joe Tingle, Ronnie Smith, Ronnie Mitchusson, Willie Hoskins, Dale Chase, Bruce McCraw and Tommy Miller.
