ARLENE HOWELL
ADA-Services for Arlene Rose Howell, 80, of Ada, are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve Gardner will officiate. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery at Byng.
Mrs. Howell died Friday, May 24, 2013, at a local hospital. She was born July 6, 1932, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Prosper A. and Elizabeth Darmody Pepin. She attended Concord school in Dunlap, Indiana, and Murray State College in Tishomingo.
She married Homer Howell in 1968 at Yukon, Oklahoma. Mrs. Howell was a mechanical engineer for Eastman Kodak Company in Colorado for several years. She was a member of the MENSA Society and a member of the Ada Writer's Club. Mrs. Howell enjoyed stamp art, and was currently learning to play the trumpet for city concerts. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church where she taught an adult Sunday school class.
Survivors include her husband, Homer Howell, of the home; a daughter, Christine De La Pointe of Windsor, Colorado; two sons, David Houck of Garden City, Michigan and Wayne Houck of Ada; a step-daughter, Donna Faye Horn of Weatherford, OK; her grandchildren, Shannon Rogers, Devon Cox, Drake De La Pointe; her sister, Marguerite Peters and her husband Jim of South Bend, IN; her sisters-in-law, Linda Harrell and her husband Larry, Patsy Duke and her husband Decko, and Carol Matthews, all of Ada; five nephews, Sean Peters, Edward Peters, Ray Matthews, Russell Matthews and David Matthews; two nieces, Catherine Peters and Jamie Pitman and husband Ian; and her cousins, Adrienne Mayfield and husband Cal, and Betty Boal.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, John Howell.
Bearers will be Ray Matthews, Russell Matthews, David Matthews, Drake De La Pointe, Devon Cox and Bret Rogers. Honorary bearers will be Shannon Rogers an Ian Pitman.
