Ann Drummond Woolley
Ann Drummond Woolley died at her home on Tuesday, May 11, at the age of 92. She was born Lois Ann Drummond in Tulsa, OK on April 19, 1929. Her parents were Frederick Gentner "FG" Drummond and Grace Clifton Ford Drummond. Ann was the last surviving grandchild of Fred and Addie Drummond, one of Hominy, Oklahoma's pioneer ranching families. She is also their only grandchild that had an Osage Indian name. FG took her to see Old Man E-Gron-Ka-Shic-Ka, who named her Met-Sa-Ka (oldest daughter) for the sum of a bridle and a saddle blanket.
After graduating from Hominy High School, she attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University (OSU)). While at OSU, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social fraternity. Ann met William Walter Woolley Jr. from Stonewall, OK at OSU. They were married on June 3, 1950 at the Hominy Presbyterian Church. They moved to Ada to run the Woolley family ranch.
Ann was active in the beef industry as President of the American National Cowbelles; President of the Oklahoma Cowbelles; Director of the Beef Industry Council, National Livestock & Meat Board; Member of the National Beeferendum Advisory Group; The first Chairman of the Oklahoma Beef Commission; a Director and Board Member of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association "NCBA"; and a Board Member of the Oklahoma Beef Industry Council.
Ann believed in community service. She proudly served as Board Members on the Citizens Bank of Ada, OK Board; and the Pontotoc County Conservation District Board. She was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Ada, OK; Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR); Member of the Wedgwood Society; Member of PEO; and a Member of Wednesday Morning Music Club.
Some of the other organizations she was involved with over the years include: Member, Board of Directors, OSU Alumni Association; Member, OSU Foundation Board; Member, Oklahoma Board of Regents for Higher Education; and Trustee, Board of Directors, University of the Ozarks, Clarksville, AR.
In addition, Ann received several honors over the years, including the "Distinguished Service Award" from the Animal Science Dept., at OSU; "Distinguished Alumni Award" from the OSU Alumni Association and "Ladies in the News in Oklahoma" from the Oklahoma Hospitality Club of OKC.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walt, on November 30, 1998, by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Tom Points, and her brother, Frederick Drummond.
She is survived by four daughters:
Leslie Woolley and her husband Doyle Bartlett, Alexandria, VA; Caroline Woolley and her partner, Roxanne Betesh, New Hope, PA; Barbara Woolley and Gerard Graham, Alexandria, VA and Susanne Woolley, Stonewall, OK.
Six dearly loved grandchildren: Ann Bartlett and Cameron Bartlett, Alexandria, VA; Claire Drummond Lindstrom and her husband Max Lindstrom, Ada; Kate Pottebaum, Grace Pottebaum, and Will Pottebaum, Stonewall.
Sister-in-law Janet Trahern Drummond of Pawhuska & Tulsa and Brother-in-law, Robert D. Woolley of Ada.
Plus numerous greatly loved nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers Melissa Todd, Jared Vogt, Sharmin Hinson, Ishioma (Vicky) Okpue, Chioma (Chi) Ukwu, Lisa Duran and the Kindful Hospice team.
A public viewing will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 15, at Criswell Funeral Home, 815 Arlington St., Ada, OK 74820.
A memorial service of celebration will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 16 th , at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Road, Ada, Oklahoma, by Pastor Scott White.
The family requests that any donations in Ann's memory be made to The Drummond Home Museum, 305 N. Price Avenue, Hominy, OK 74035, or to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 E. Kings Road, Ada, OK 74820 in lieu of flowers.
