Anita Jane Boiles Robbins

Services for Anita Jane Robbins, 84, of Ada will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Harold Ware will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Robbins died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020. She was born on February 23, 1935 to C.L. "Dutch" and Pearl Boiles in Ada, OK. Mrs. Robbins was a Cradle Roll member of the First Baptist Church of Ada which she attended faithfully for 80 years. Over the years, she served on various committees and taught junior high girls and adult women's Sunday school classes.

Mrs. Robbins graduated from Ada High School in 1953 and then attended OSU until December of 1954 when she returned to Ada to marry her fiance Jim Robbins on December 18th. During the next several decades, she raised three sons and a daughter, volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, Camp Fire Girls leader, dabbled in art as a member of the Ada Artists Club, and completed her degree in Spanish Education at East Central University.

She was a generous hostess who opened her home to people from all cultures and all walks of life, held backyard art shows to display the work of neighborhood children who had spent a summer day painting under her supervision, and encouraged her own children and grandchildren to love books, music, art, people, and God.

Mrs. Robbins did not begin her teaching career until the age of 60 when she was hired to teach Spanish at Latta High School. She taught Spanish to every grade level until she retired at the age of 78. During her career, she was awarded Teacher of the Year and received a grant to study Spanish in Costa Rica for two weeks. She was known at Latta as a tireless and firm but loving teacher who stood at her doorway during nutrition breaks offering cookies to students.

She served as a member and President of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and for several years taught ESL evening classes at the Trinity Baptist Church.

Most importantly, Mrs. Robbins will be remembered for her steadfast faith and her consistent and fervent prayers for family, friends, and people around the world.

Mrs. Robbins was preceded in death by her parents, C.L. and Pearl Boiles: her husband, Jim Robbins; her brother, Charles Boiles of Montreal, Canada; and son, Jim Robbins of Ada.

She is survived by her sister, Harriette Mcknight of Ada; her brother, Gene and his wife Donna of Whitesboro, TX; her sister-in-law, Cristina Boiles of Montreal, Canada;  son, Russell Robbins and wife Jeanie of Eufaula, AL; daughter, Deanna Compton of Ada, OK; son, Christopher Robbins and wife Anna of Edmond, OK and nine grandchildren: Susannah Compton and husband Sam Leonard of Shawnee, OK; Miles Compton and wife Terra of Dallas, TX; Nathan Compton of OKC, OK; Madison Robbins of NYC; Jake Robbins of Nichols Hills, OK; Ciara Ghajar of Edmond, OK; Rachel and Jessica Robbins of Eufaula, AL, and David Robbins of Oneonta, AL. She had seven great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law, and many loving friends.

Bearers will be Miles Compton, Nathan Compton, Jake Robbins and Sam Leonard.
