Rev. Andrew Cochran
BAYTOWN, TEXAS-Services for Rev. Andrew Dewise Cochran, 64, of Baytown, Texas, formerly of the Stonewall area, are 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Ada, Rev. Larry D. Payne will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday at the True Vine Baptist Church, 530 W. 8th in Ada.
A service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Gladewater, TX with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gladewater.
Rev. Cochran died Sunday, May 3, 2015 in Holdenville. He was born August 22, 1950 in Stonewall to Rev. Freddie Dewise Cochran, Sr. and Lola Bell Bruner Cochran. He attended Lula grade school and graduated from Tupelo High School. He attended Murray State College in Tishomingo and graduated from the American Baptist Theology Seminar in 1985. He later received a Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas Baptist University in 1986.
He married Nancy Ann Hawley on February 18, 1979 in Gladewater. Rev. Cochran was a Maintenance Mechanic for Targa (formerly Chevron) and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gladewater, where he was ordained a minister. He was currently serving as Pastor of True Vine Baptist Church in Ada. Rev. Cochran served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home; two sons, Christopher Hawley of Tyler, TX and Bobby Joe Mays of Buna, TX; two grandchildren whom he reared, Enchanté West, Baytown, TX and Christian Hawley, Dallas, TX, and a granddaughter, Dainell Mays, Buna, TX; four great-grandchildren, Elasia, Admire, Nevaeh and Xavier; four brothers, Rev. Famous D. Cochran and wife Debra, Konawa, Rev. Clive R. Cochran, Sr. and wife Cheryl, Wewoka, Ronnie Dean Cochran, Stonewall and Freddie Dewise, Jr. and wife Jessica, Ada; four sisters, Susie Ann Moore, Oklahoma City, Vernitta Ruth Gutierrez and husband Adolfo Gutierrez, Sr, Stonewall, Alice Jewel Scott, Ada and Lera Ione Williams, Okmulgee; two aunts, Brazilla Johnson, Allen and Thelma Bruner, Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lazenia M. Cochran.
Bearers will be Garland Glover, Cornelo Gutierrez, Adolfo Gutierrez, Darnell Rangel, Clive Cochran, Jr., and Farrell Warrior. Honorary bearers will be Freddie Cochran, III, Jesse Walton, Randall Walton, John Hamilton, Paul Rogers, Terry Daniels, Terry Bruner and Truman Johnson. Flower bearers will be the True Vine Baptist Church Mission.
