AMY COVENTON
ADA-Services for Amy Lou Coventon, 86, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edgar Bray will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Coventon died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at a local hospital. She was born September 2, 1926 at Galey, Oklahoma to William Clyde and Gladys Blevins Bray. She lived in this area all her life, attended Galey grade school and graduated from Vanoss High School. She also attended East Central University in Ada.
She married Audrey Odell Porter in 1946. They were married for 23 years. She later married Harlin W. Coventon. They were married for 35 years. He preceded her in death in 2006. Mrs. Coventon was a checker and bookkeeper for Dutch's Grocery Store in Ada for 30 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Coventon had three children, a daughter, Kay Porter Ragan and her husband Gene of Maud; and twins, Lynn Porter of Sulphur and Lynda Porter Lambert who died in 2008; a son-in-law, Sam Lambert of Stratford; a step-son, Wayne Coventon and wife Dee; five grandchildren, Shanna Ragan Fletcher and husband Steve of Bixby, Stacy Ragan and his wife Lucrecia of Maud, Tonya Lynn Porter Bercher and husband Donny of Houston, TX, Samuel Lambert of Stratford and Weldon Lambert and wife Trisha of MO; two step-grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Cooper of Ada, Gwen Paxton of Hennessey, and Joy Johnson of Pauls Valley; and a brother, Ed Bray of Konawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Audrey O. Porter in 1981, and a daughter, Lynda Porter Lambert who died in 2008, and brothers, Berlin Bray, Ewert Bray, and William "Ike" Bray; and a sister, Leola Bray.
Bearers will be Toby Cooper, Gene Ragan, Lynn Porter, Steve Fletcher, Morgan Fletcher and Stacy Ragan.
