Obituary

IRVING, TEXAS-Services for Alfred Raymond Stroud, 68, Irving, Texas, formerly of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, at the Criswell Chapel, Jay Davis officiating. The Chickasaw Honor Gaurd will conduct full military honors at the cemetery. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Stroud died on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at his home. He was born May 19, 1939, at Kingfisher to Alfred Ross Stroud and Imogene Thompson Stroud. He attended school at Kingfisher. He was formerly the owner of Ada Buggy Shop and was an auto technician at Metro Volkswagen in Irving. He was a former of Ada Elks Lodge #1640 in Ada, and served in the U. S. Air Force from 1957-1961, serving as a Sergeant for B-52 ground crew. He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Calvary Temple in Irving.

He married Marilyn K. Melton on September 19, 1992, at Irving, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of the home; three daughters, Sharlene Cowger and her husband Willie, Ada; Charlotte Clapper, Oklahoma City; and Kari Martinez, Euless, Texas; three sons, Colby Stroud and his wife Mary, Royse City, Texas; Ty Stroud and his wife Kristie, Wylie, Texas; and Michael Shane Smith, Irving, Texas; step-children, Linda Wall, Wichita Falls, Texas; Chris West, Francis; Lori Davis, Francis; and Mike Cowan, Ada; three sisters, Margie Burpo, Kingfisher; Margaret Murphy, Kingfisher; and Bea Gaither, Kingfisher; two brothers, Gerald Stroud, Graittenger, Iowa; and Troy Stroud, Cashion, Oklahoma; 23 grandchildren, Jason Cowger, Justin Cowger, Janessa Cowger, Jordan Cowger, Christopher Laughlin, Tyson Stroud, Tyler Stroud, Dakota Beavers, Cheyenne Stroud, Michael Smallwood, Jerry Hill, Dusty Stroud, Michael Doyle Smith II, Candice Hardcastle, Courtney Cowan, Travis Cowan, Mike Wall, Nicola Wall, Steve West, Holly West, Brian Tiger, Amy Davis and Robert Davis; and 6 great grandchildren.

Mr. Stroud was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers, and a son, Alfred Raymond Stroud Jr.

Bearers are Michael Shane Smith, Travis Cowan, Jason Cowger, Justin Cowger, Jordan Cowger, Tyson Stroud and Jerry Hill.
