ALBERT JAMAR

ADA-Services for Albert Melton Jamar, 88, Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Chapel, Rev. Gary Jamar, a member of the family will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Jamar died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at his home. He was born October 28, 1921 at Maxwell, Oklahoma to Eugene Christopher and Maude Mae Ozbirn Jamar. He graduated from Vanoss High School and enlisted in the 10th Armored Division, Batttery A in the European Theatre during World War II.

He married Janie Louise Cates on April 3, 1947. He and his wife lived in the Latta community for 62 years. Mr. Jamar was employed with Brockway Glass Company until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Janie Jamar, of the home; two daughters, Judy Wofford and husband Willis, Sulphur and Jana Johnson and husband Darren, of the home; four granddaughters, Dava Sanders and husband Mike, Ada, Cori Jo Mataska and husband Himey, Petrolia, TX, Sarah Collins, Denison, TX, and Rachel Jamar; four grandsons, Kyle Collins, Denison, TX, Bryce, Bryden and Benjamin Johnson, of the home; three great granddaughters, Raeley and Bekah Mataska and Kyla Jamar; three great grandsons, Braden and Kaleb Jamar and "Lil" Mike Collins; one brother, Alvin Jamar and wife Hazel, Ada; and one sister-in-law, Geneva Jamar, Ada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Oma, Henry and Calvin Jamar, one sister, Edna Hughes and his only son, Randall Albert Jamar.

Bearers will be Himey Mataska, Kyle Collins, Mike Sanders, Ricky Jamar, Darren Johnson, Gary Jamar, Bryce Johnson, Bryden Johnson and Benjamin Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Albert's surviving Battery A fellow veterans and friends, Tom Bubin of Michigan, Dick Coffee of Alabama, Wayne Garman of Ohio, and Carolle Langley of Georgia, daughter of their Captain Brown. A very special group of "The Last Man Standing" Club.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the local veterans group or Ada Family Hospice Foundation, 117 S. Broadway, Ada, OK 74820.
